This was a very stinky, messy business. The main sewer line from the house to the city sewer system collapsed. After several days (3) of wet wipe showers, Paul finally rented a back hoe and dug the broken pipe out. Once the hole was dug and the old collapsed pipe removed, he had a new plastic pipe installed in about 1/2 an hour.
Here are some pictures…
The basement

Paul and the hoe getting acquainted

The big bad hole

The first scoop..

How did I do?

Where do I put it all?

It’s a loooong way down!

Hey Billy! I think I am getting the hang of this! Weeeeee!!!!

A new perspective on things

The foreman giving directions…..(Notice the dirty running shoes?)

Paul gets down and dirty (smelly to)

Dig…Dig…Dig…Hey! I thought that’s what we rented the back hoe for!

All ready to fill’er up!

I walked down to Bloor and Yonge today. I left Keele and Rogers at about 4:30. I walked east to the end of Rogers road then turned south to St. Clair. I walked east along St. Clair, stopping for an expresso at Second Cup. I have to use up that Second Cup gift card that Mina and Paul gave me for Christmas. I then continued along St. Clair until I got to Bathurst and then travelled south. I stopped just after Dupont at Java Mama. This is a real cool earthy fair trade coffee and chocolate empourium. I talked to the owner, Susan, about green beens and roasting my own coffee using a hot air corn popper. She has several in the store and invited me to come back and try my hand at roasting some Costa Rican Turrazu (my favorite). She also turned me on to a neat web site at barista.com.

After leaving there I continued down Bathurst to Bloor. I then walked east on Bloor to Yonge and then north a block to the Havana House and got a nice cuban cigar. I sat outside the Toronto Reference Library and smoked my cigar while watching the sun set.
I’ll try taking some pictues with my cell phone next time as I stop in on these places and post them here.
Tomorrow, if the weather is nice I’ll do the walk again and start out earlier in the day. Hopefully I can try my hand at coffee bean roasting.

Rotors, those heavy, flat objects used to stop vehicles with the help of break pads, need to be stored laying flat. If they are stored standing on an angle or on end, they tend to warp. This warpedge creates anything from uneven pad wear to an uneven stopping experience for the driver.
Almost daily, I see badly shelved rotors at work. What happens is that the employee attempts to find the spot to place the rotors on the shelve according to their part number. There is no space on the shelve between the rotors in numerical order. So, rather than moving the rotors around to open up a spot on the shelf (rotors are rather heavy), they stand them up on end or lay them against an existing stack of rotors.
So, I decided to take some photos and make a sign to discourage this behavior.

Paul’s new Arctic Cat jacket arrived today so I thought I’d get the pictures off of Mina’s new camera and do a collage.
